Bittersweet Studios Dance Classes
Bittersweet is proud to announce that we will be offering a larger number of dance classes taught by some of the best instructors in Jacksonville. We will will have classes for all ages and levels. Our mission with this new dance program is to constantly move forward. We work past frustration and never become stagnant. It is our responsibility to ourselves to be strong yet humble, honest and dependable. We are constantly on the move to become not just better performers, but better people through dance.
Want to improve your fluidity, transitions and overall dance technique all while acquiring new skills and learning choreography? This is the class for you! In this class we will work on basic, intermediate and advanced dance techniques in styles such as: Modern, Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary to help you become that versatile dancer you see on the stage and TV (ex: so you think you can dance ). This class may not always be easy but the outcome will be well worth it! -Please wear fitted bottoms and a comfortable but not too baggy top, socks will be sometimes needed.
A contemporary take on a traditional class that will help lengthen and strengthen your muscles while using classical ballet skills! Including a barre warm-up, across the floor exercises, and ending with some choreography, this class is sure to get you moving with both strength and grace. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned ballerina or if you’ve never stepped foot in a dance studio, this class is for anyone.
An intense workout focusing on traditional barre exercises that keep you long and lean! This class starts with a slow-paced barre designed to use the entire body, and ends with a few floor exercises for conditioning. Take this and you’ll enhance your flexibility and your endurance in a fun and challenging way! No experience necessary.
This dance class will teach you the foundation and basics of ballet. Come learn the terminology of basic ballet movement. Take this class and you will learn to control your body with classic ballet technique. This dance class is great for someone with no experience to the dancer who wants to perfect their control and flexibility. Ballet terminology is important to learn because it is vital when moving on to other styles of dance.
Jazz classes explore traditional, Broadway and Contemporary styles in a fun, energetic atmosphere. This class begins with a warm-up that stresses on technique, flexibility, coordination and strength, followed by progressions across the floor, center work and combinations. Beginner students learn fundamental jazz steps and basic vocabulary through across the floor exercises and simple combinations.
Lyrical dance is a combination of Jazz and Ballet. Much like Jazz you will begin with a warm-up that focuses on strength, flexibility and terminology. Movements in lyrical dance are characterized by fluidity and grace, with the dancer flowing seamlessly from one move to another, holding finishing steps as long as possible. Come take this class to paint strong emotions using your body as a canvas.
Contemporary can be very similar to Lyrical, however Contemporary dance is the exploration of the total movement potential of the body. Unlike other forms of dance, it is not bound by set standards or defined styles. Instead, it seeks to express a personalized vision, often through experimentation and collaboration, in exploring new choreographic possibilities. It derives its techniques from both classical and modern dance, either updating or distorting them, resulting in a hybrid form derived from literature, architecture, visual arts, circus and other artistic disciplines.
Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States. This class is great for the beginner or seasoned dancer.
